- Is pain management covered by Alberta Health?
- Medically necessary physician care is covered for eligible patients under the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP). Coverage for medications and other services is separate.
- What kind of pain can I discuss with my family doctor?
- Any ongoing or recurring pain — your family physician will assess it and discuss an appropriate management approach as part of your care.
- Who performs joint injections and other minor in-clinic procedures for pain?
- Our family physicians perform intra-articular injections for degenerative knee, shoulder, and ankle conditions in-house — see the Minor Procedures page for details. These are booked by phone or in person, not online.
- How do I book a pain management appointment?
- If you are registered with one of our family physicians, book with your doctor through Mikata. New patients and walk-ins can book online through Skip the Waiting Room, call the clinic, or come in.
