Patient Resources and Clinic Policies
Clinic policies at Blue Diamond Medical Clinic: appointments, no-show fees, prescription refills, test results, referrals, telephone consultations and confidentiality.
Appointments
Arrive on time — patients more than 5 minutes late may need to rebook at the doctor's discretion. Bring your Alberta Health Care number to every visit. Standard appointments are 15 minutes, usually enough for one major or two minor health concerns. For more concerns, call at least 48 hours ahead to book a 30-minute appointment, or book a second appointment.
No-show fees
Confirm your attendance via the reminder system. If you miss a confirmed appointment, no-show fees apply (from $40 for a regular visit; every no-show fee is listed on the Uninsured Services & Fees page).
Prescription refills
New medications require an in-person visit. To renew an existing prescription, ask your pharmacy to fax a renewal request to +1 (587) 443-0394 — allow 2 business days, at the doctor's discretion. If you run out before the renewal comes through, ask your pharmacy for an extension (a 2–3 day supply).
Test results
We use a secure messaging service to share test results and messages from your doctor. Let the clinic know if you would like to opt out. Results are never sent by ordinary, unsecured email.
Referrals and investigations
Referrals and investigations, including X-ray, MRI and ultrasound, are requested by your family doctor after an in-person visit to discuss your concern.
Telephone consultations
Telephone consultations are offered at each doctor's discretion and must be booked in advance. Confirmation and no-show fees apply to them as to in-person visits.
General conduct
We aim to treat everyone who visits the clinic politely and with care, and we ask for the same in return. Rude, aggressive or bullying behaviour, in person or by phone, may lead to the call being ended, removal from the premises and discharge from the clinic.
Confidentiality
We never share your information with a third party — including insurers, lawyers, or other clinics — without your express written permission.
